How to Start Canning Drinks

You do not need a factory canning line to sell drinks in cans. A compact sealing machine, cans, lids and your own branding are enough for cafes, bars, event caterers and small drinks brands. Here is a simple way to get started.

1. Pick your machine

We have two styles of machine:

• Professional Grade (from AU$1,400): a simple one-button machine. You change the base plate to suit different can sizes.
• Touch screen Mini (AU$1,699) and Maxi (AU$1,799): a touch screen and one auto-lifting base plate, so there is no swapping between can sizes. The Mini and Maxi are the same machine in different sizes, so choose the one that fits your bench.

Each one seals a can in about 3 seconds.

2. Choose your cans

3. Add lids

Ring pull lids are AU$40 per 200-pack, with silver and black options, and we also stock easy peel lids.

4. Brand your cans

Email a PDF of your logo to hello@hausofbevs.com and we will send a free 3D mock up within 24 hours. Printed clear PET cans with lids start from AU$0.80 a can on a 1,000 run. Custom cans come direct from the factory: allow 7 to 10 days to print and 30 to 42 days for delivery (UK and EU 42 to 55 days). Shipping on custom printed cans is free worldwide.

5. Fill, seal and sell

Fill the can with your chilled drink, place a lid on top, put the can in the machine and press the button. In about 3 seconds you have a sealed can ready for the fridge, takeaway or an event.

• Seal during quiet times. Prepare 100 or more drinks in a quiet shift so busy periods run smoothly, with sealed cans ready in the fridge.
• Merchandise at the register. A branded can on display is an easy add-on sale.
• Pre-batch for events. Cocktails, cold brews, juices and kombucha all work well for festivals, functions and takeaway.
• Go wholesale. Sealed, branded cans can be supplied to other cafes, shops and venues.
• Keep spare cans and lids. Cans and lids come in packs of 200, so reorder before you run low.
